The TWINFLEXpro two wire fire alarm system incorporating the Multipoint ASD combined smoke and heat detector with optional built-in sounder and strobe, allows the whole system to be easily installed using only one pair of wires per zone.
Using the Multipoint ASD detector as part of the TWINFLEXpro two wire fire alarm system means that when a detector is wired to the system, a sounder and strobe can also be connected without extra installation time or cost. This greatly reduces the number of points that need to be installed and the time it takes to install. As Multipoint ASD offers 7 different modes of detection, the installation is made even simpler since one device suits all applications. Whatever type of detection is required, it can be selected by the flick of a switch at the time of commissioning - 3 different smoke modes, 2 fixed temperature heat modes, a rate of rise mode and a combination smoke or heat mode.
As the Multipoint ASD detector is available with or without a full specification integral 90 dBA sounder no extra devices need to be purchased when audible warning is required. If extra sound is required or for areas that do not require detection, then a choice of several different standalone sounders, call points or sounder beacons can be used on the same two wires.
This versatile system has the ability to differentiate between call point or detector alarm; can accommodate a maximum of 32 devices per zone; has separate fault monitoring display for each zone; and a man walk test facility and zones that can be configured without the need to use resistors or capacitors. To make the TWINFLEXpro system even more flexible, Fike can also provide a special Output Unit. This can be situated anywhere on the zone circuit, and is ideal for connecting to plant shutdown, door release mechanisms etc.
Repeater panels, which are small remote display units, can be connected to a 4 or 8 zone version 2 TWINFLEX®pro panel via an RS485 data link. A maximum of 8 Repeater Panels can be connected to a single control panel. Repeater Panels do not connect to or control any devices; they simply report all fire and fault events that occur in the system. They can also perform system actions over the data link (i.e. Silence Alarms, Reset, Sound Alarms and Silence Buzzer). Repeater Panels are intended to provide display capability at secondary building entrances, nurse's stations and at any location where the panel event information is required to be displayed.
Checkpoint Alarm Confirmation Technology
With the increasing number of new builds, property conversions to flats and bed-sits, and greater pressure on environmental officers to actively enforce the requirements of BS5839 part 6 (the code of practice for fire detection and alarm systems in dwellings), organisations are continually looking for a dependable early warning fire alarm system. The ability to deliver reliable fire detection for these demanding applications, Fike has incorporated Checkpoint Technology into its TWINFLEXpro control panels.
What is Checkpoint Technology?
At the planning stage of installation, fire zones are designated as 'dwelling' for individual rooms or apartments or 'communal' for common areas such as corridors or stairwells. The TWINFLEXpro system has the ability to set a pre-alarm for dwellings, allowing time to investigate the cause of the activation before evacuating the building. This can be programmed between 1 to 5 minutes. Activation in a communal area will initiate a full alarm immediately. When a fire is detected in a dwelling, only the local (room) sounder will operate during the alarm verification period, to warn the occupants within that particular dwelling.
